Drone view of the Marocche di Dro and Lake Cavedine
DESCRIPTION
In the mountains, it often happens that we walk for hours along forest trails, climbing slopes or through the valley floors of narrow gorges without being able to fully take in our surroundings. We can’t wait to find an elevated spot, a panoramic viewpoint, or a summit so we can observe the nature around us from a privileged vantage point. Sometimes the physical spot from which we’d like to view the scene doesn’t exist in the sense that it’s suspended mid-air above us. With aerial photography captured using a drone, we can overcome this limitation by choosing the desired viewpoint. I thus created this panorama taken about a hundred meters above the ground in the Valle dei Laghi in Trentino. Below are the Marocche di Dro and further ahead Lake Cavedine with the road leading to it. Framing the scene are the mountains from which, about 20,000 years ago, Europe’s largest landslide broke away, giving rise to the Marocche.
