DESCRIPTION
We often climb a mountain or a hill to see further, to let our gaze wander over other lands and other peaks to reach. On the Brescia shore of Lake Garda stands the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Montecastello. Perched on a dizzying yet panoramic rocky outcrop, it overlooks the lake from above in an oasis of peace. Beyond the sanctuary, a trail continues to climb, hugging the steep rock face that drops sheer down to the Gardesana road, which runs 500 m below. If you don’t suffer from vertigo, it’s a trail well worth exploring. Of course, the view from that vantage point is magnificent, but how can one truly grasp the context in which we find ourselves? So I launched the drone to film the rocky spur of Montecastello and place it within the surrounding landscape. A truly remarkable place.
