Enrosadira and the last light of day on the Dolomites
DESCRIPTION
There are few natural spectacles capable of moving me as much as a sunset against the walls of the Dolomites. Especially when the sky is stormy and the clouds play a key role in the spectacle that Nature offers us. In the last light that still barely caresses the rocks and turns them red, I find something that resonates deeply within me—something melodramatic, a final surge before the end.
After an afternoon of bad weather, I climbed to Passo Oclini (1,989 m) with my wife Stefania to wait for the sunset. We set off on the trail that circles Corno Bianco, even though the clouds were almost completely covering the mountains and the risk of rain was very high. We were lucky because it didn’t rain, and the air was crisp at 10° with a nice, brisk wind. We waited in the company of a herd of cows grazing nearby. At one point, just for a few moments, the clouds parted to reveal sections of the Dolomites, and a faint light managed to brush across their rugged walls.
Using my 300 mm lens, I framed some of these walls bathed in the last light of day.
