On May 26, 2026, the winners of the prestigious photography contest organized by EXPOSURE ONE AWARDS were announced.
A unique feature of this international competition is that it is reserved only for black and white photographs.
One Shot Photo is the annual contest that collects the best and most iconic single images.

I learned that I was the overall winner in the Aerial category: the photograph Beach preparation entered received first prize and Gold status.

EXPOSURE ONE AWARDS 2026 - One Shot Photo Contest - Winner - Aerial - Roberto Carnevali - Gold

PHOTOGRAPHY

On a windy afternoon in early spring 2024, several large bulldozers are at work on the large beach of Porto Garibaldi . Their loud roar mixes with the lapping of the waves on the coast and the occasional hiss of the wind. The bulldozers are flattening a large sand dune, preparing the beach for the upcoming summer season. The work is taking place on a weekday; the beach is practically deserted. This work can only be fully appreciated with an aerial shot, so I used a drone to highlight the graphic elements drawn on the sand by the bulldozers, which resemble large engravings. In the frame, I chose to add the motion of the waves to further contextualize the scene. I used black and white to reinforce the graphic elements, creating a practically abstract painting. I used a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone for the shot.

GOLD

Winning first place overall in aerial photography in such a prestigious competition makes me truly happy and proud. Ultimately, I've combined my great passion for black and white with my passion for landscapes, using a drone to access otherwise impossible shooting angles and shots.

Aerial photography with a drone is a truly interesting genre of photography that I've only been exploring for a couple of years. From below, you can often imagine scenarios that could be photographically interesting, but it's only when you see them from above that you understand if the idea is truly feasible. After so many years of traditional photography, which I've practiced and continue to practice, capturing landscapes from unusual shooting angles is a form of visual exploration that I'm passionate about. I'm truly thrilled to have received this important recognition in a genre I've only been practicing for a short time.
