Reflections and foliage in the Dolomites of Lake Braies
DESCRIPTION
The lush forests that surround Lake Braies in Alta Pusteria and descend from the mountain slopes are ablaze with the colors of foliage in autumn. These vivid colors contrast sharply with the more muted, washed-out colors of the large scree slopes that underlie the great wall of Croda del Becco. The geometric shapes of the colliers and rocks provide a natural backdrop to the shapes of the forests.
But it is in the rare windless conditions that the scenery doubles its charm, transforming the surface of the lake in the early morning hours into a perfect mirror. Thus was born on an autumn morning this photograph.
