ALTA VIA 7 IN THE DOLOMITES - The Panoramic Route par excellence

On RUNNER'S WORLD in the Travel section, there is a special feature dedicated to Alta Via n.7 in the Dolomites. The itinerary proposed by the magazine traces a 130 km hiking trail that starts in Ponte nelle Alpi near Belluno and ends in San Candido in Alta Val Pusteria.

One of my photographs was also used to illustrate the article, showing a summer landscape just below the summit of Mount Elmo (2,434 m) on the border between Italy and Austria.

THE PHOTOGRAPH

I took this photograph in the summer in a hollow near the summit of Mount Elmo. The rains of the previous days had formed a small temporary lake that reflected the large white clouds in the sky. From that vantage point it didn't seem to be the Dolomites but more the Scottish Highlands, so much so that I titled the photograph "Return to Skyfall".
