DESCRIPTION
Abstracting a place or a space has always fascinated me. It is perhaps one of the most enjoyable and insightful games I know: looking and finding an order different from what everyone else sees. This type of photography is perfect for those like me who are curious and who look at things even as adults, through the eyes of children. Often, you just “waste” time—you look and find nothing special. But you still train your mind in this enjoyable exercise. Other times, however, all it takes is finding a different vantage point—as in this case, from above with a drone—to uncover unexpected geometries amid light and shadow. An ordinary glimpse of the Lombard countryside near Sabbioneta, thanks to high contrast, black and white, and a well-chosen framing, becomes a sketch on a canvas, as if done in charcoal.
