The Milky Way in the summer sky of the Aosta Valley

1

DESCRIPTION

Few things have fascinated humanity throughout history as much as observing the night sky. An unreachable entity that towers over our lives, flowing through our days. Even today, when we understand much of its dynamics and the nature of what we observe, we remain in awe, admiring this spectacle. Of course, it is not easy to admire the stars as our ancestors could just a few thousand years ago, with a sky free from light pollution that prevents us from capturing the richness of their colors and myriad details. For this reason, today, those who still wish to admire this magic with the naked eye must seek out isolated places immune to any terrestrial light. With this in mind, nearly 11 years ago, I went on a summer night in August to the deepest part of the La Thuile Valley near the village of La Jeux. Sheltered by the high peaks of the Alps and the surrounding vegetation, I stopped in a small clearing to observe, with my wife Stefania and my young children, the natural spectacle of the Milky Way in the summer sky. Then, around midnight, I took this single shot using a tripod and a wide-angle lens: in 30 seconds, I captured that moment.
