Time flows like water flowing between rocks
Time flows like water flowing between rocks

DESCRIPTION
I think I’ve always had a passion for nature, passed down from my grandparents who took me to the Modena countryside where they worked from a very young age. And a few years later, my love for the mountains was born—I’d say around the age of 4 or 5. I spent the entire month of July with relatives who had moved to Trentino, near the small village of Tiarno di Sotto beyond the Val di Ledro in Trentino. The first hike I remember taking started right near their house and led to what has always remained in my memory as the lower waterfall. It is also the first place where I found the courage to spend some time alone in the mountain wilderness, where the sound of water cascading down hundreds of small falls becomes a roar in the final stretch of the canyon as it bursts thunderously from the rock.
After many years, a few weeks ago I happened to return to this place with Stefania, to show her what is now known as Gorg D'Abiss. I was a little worried I wouldn’t find any of that magic that used to draw me into the stream bed to sit silently beside the small cascades. Instead, it was thrilling to see how this place captivated my wife as well, even though she had never seen it before. As an adult, my perception of the distance to reach it was completely different, and I didn’t remember many of the details.
But the sound of the water among those rocks still fascinates me as much as it did back then. After all, we are like those drops passing between the rocks. With every leap we gain speed, and even though there is only one stream flowing in a single direction, each drop follows its own path, brushing against some rocks and lapping at others, on a journey that is unique. Just like our lives, which flow side by side, smoothing each other out.
