A church and the foliage of the Valsugana woods among the clouds
DESCRIPTION
One morning in early winter, together with my son, I was on my way to the Vezzena Pass starting from Levico Terme. Some friends had recommended that we hike up to Pizzo di Levico, which we were reaching by car following the scenic little road up the valley wall. As I drove I could occasionally catch a glimpse of the panorama below us, with low clouds covering the valley floor like a soft, icy blanket. As soon as I found a small clearing where I could safely stop the car, I did so and with a long focal length (300 mm) set out to explore the details of that scene. The clouds and fog were very low and dense, so only the few taller structures managed to emerge from the blanket. I was struck by a church that stood out well, appearing as if it were lying on a promontory of a bay. Around it, forests still colored by the hues of autumn foliage provided a backdrop before being swallowed up in the clouds.
