Vertical Geometries Blending Modernity and Gothic Influences
Vertical Geometries Blending Modernity and Gothic Influences

DESCRIPTION
There are places you know well and see hundreds of times in your life—places you walk past without a second thought and use as landmarks. When we already know a place—or think we do—we no longer really look at it: because we already know what it’s like. This goes on until the day you pass by it one more time, but in your mind, in your soul, there are specific thoughts that make you reconsider the place through the eyes of a child. That is, with the gaze of someone who, not knowing, observes every detail with interest to try to intuit, discover, and marvel.
Ultimately, that’s all it takes to “see” around us what others cannot see. A good photographer doesn’t need much else to create his or her images.
Just yesterday in Modena, my hometown, I was walking past the sloping roof of the Church of the Madonna Pellegrina for the umpteenth time when I saw this.
